Robert Muchamore was born in Islington, London in 1972. He still calls London home, and spent much of his adult life working in and around the capital as a private investigator. In 2005, Muchamore released the first in a series of yound adult espionage adventures entitled the 'CHERUB' series, and left the field of private investigation to focus on writing.

Robert was inspired to create the CHERUB series by his nephews' complaints about the lack of anything exciting for them to read. 'CHERUB: The Recruit' was Robert's first book and won the Red House Children's Book Award 2005 in the Older Readers Category. He has since followed it up with thirteen more 'CHERUB' books and the five books which make up the 'Henderson Boys' series, as well as two more titles due for release in the coming months.

Author's Comment: Q: What was your inspiration to write books?
A: I've always read loads, but when I was about 12 or 13 I got fed up with all the kids' books, but I was still a bit young to really get into adult books. So my starting point for 'CHERUB: The Recruit' was to try and write the book that I was searching for when I was thirteen years old.

Q: What is your favourite book?
A: I love 'Catch-22' by Joseph Heller. I've read it about ten times and it still cracks me up. My other favourite is 'In Cold Blood' by Truman Capote. I was an 'Asterix' nut when I was a kid. The best books I've read recently are 'The Hunger Games' by Suzanne Collins and 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' by Steig Larsson.
