Margaret Clark

Margaret Clark was born in Geelong, Victoria, Australia in 1942.She has worked as a primary teacher, pre-school director, university lecturer, and alcohol and drug educator with the Victorian Health Department. These various jobs have given her great insight into the lives of children and teenagers. She has a B.Ed (Honours), a Masters degree in Education, and a Doctorate in Education. She has written books under the name M.D.Clark, Margaret D Clark and Lee Striker, and now, Margaret Clark. With over one hundred books about relationships, friendships, and social issues under the guise of humour, Margaret's books have become very popular with young readers. She writes for ages 4-16 years.

Author's Comment: You are never too old to learn! For eight years I studied for my doctorate in education, and the subject was Children's Literature. I did research in some schools in Melbourne and rural areas. I wanted to know how schools use an author visit in their curriculum so I wanted to talk to English teachers and teacher librarians. I was (and still am) interested in what children and teenagers think about class text books and other books they read. I kept a personal journal about why I write, what I write, ideas I get, requests I get from publishers and other data. I wrote all the research into a thesis. I received my doctorate in Oct 2005.
