Ailsa Wild is the author of the beloved Squishy Taylor series, about ninja-daredevil, problem-solving Squishy and the adventures she has with bonus sisters. Ailsa is a writer, performer and community artist who loves collaborating. She makes stories with scientists, musicians, kids and circus performers. Her first books – The Squid, the Vibrio and the Moon and Zobi and the Zoox – have been written in collaboration with science experts and star microbes, molecules and mucus, and where the bacteria are the heroes.
Author's Comment
I love characters like I love real humans – and I have a lot of loves to choose from so that question feels hard. One of my favourites is Nancy Blackett from the Swallows and Amazons books – she's so determined to have adventures and she's both competent and hilarious. She takes charge in such fabulous ways and really brings the story and the high stakes into their world. I love her.
