Nick Arnold loved science lessons, but hated waking up afterwards. After a few more years he became slightly more grown up and decided that science needed him. And it especially needed the funny bits and horrible bits to keep readers awake. So that – in a nutty nutshell is where Horrible Science came from, and from that day to this, Nick hasn’t stopped writing. Oh, all right, so he doesn’t write in the toilet, but we won’t talk about that.

Author's Comment: When I was at school the only science that interested me was biology because of a very excellent biology teacher. The sciences I found less interesting than, for example, English or History. My ambition was always to be a writer, hence my interest in English, and the great thing that I liked to read about was horrible things.But when I began to write horrible science, I began to realise that science is more horrible than any other subject. There are much more gory and interesting things to grab the imagination. And the more I found out about science, all the different sciences, physics, chemistry, biology, the more interested I've become.
