Jackson Pearce
Jackson began writing when she got angry that the school librarian couldn’t tell her of a book that contained a smart girl, horses, baby animals, and magic. Her solution was to write the book herself when she was twelve. Her parents thought it was cute at first, but have grown steadily more concerned for her ever since.
Jackson is the author of the Retold Fairy Tales series as well as two standalone novels for young adults, As You Wish and Purity. Under the pen-name J. Nelle Patrick, she has also published Tsarina.
Author's Comment: Fairytales are so engrained in everyone, worldwide—they’re some of the very first stories we hear. Yet we all hear slightly different versions, since it’s in the nature of fairytales to be altered and to morph with time and with each new storyteller. I was really drawn to taking the original fairytales and morphing them into something new and fresh, while still maintaining some of the themes that everyone is familiar with.
