Jen Storer is a children's author. She was born in Horsham, Victoria, in 1961 and pursued many career paths including nursing, veterinary nursing, public service, waitressing, retail and editing before turning her hand to professional writing. She has written many books, such as: two Aussie Bites chapter books called Sing, Pepi, Sing and Haggis McGregor and the Night of the Skull Moon; I Hate Sport (an Aussie Chomp written under her old nickname, Prue Storer); Tan Callahan's Secret Spy Files, illustrated by Caroline Magerl and short-listed for the 2009 Clayton's Awards for Younger Readers; and Tensy Farlow and the Home for Mislaid Children, a wicked gothic adventure story for 10+ readers about an orphan, a horrible orphanage, fallen angels and lost souls.

'Tensy Farlow' was shortlisted for the Prime Minister's Literary Award Children's Fiction, the CBCA Younger Readers Award, two APA Design Awards, an Aurealis Award and the WAYRBA children's choice award in 2010.

Jen lives in Melbourne Australia and works in a studio at the wonderfully gothic Abbotsford Convent. Her favourite lollies are clinkers and chicos and her favourite animals are wolves, polar bears and cows.

Author's Comment:

Q: Did you always want to be a writer?

A: Yes. But I also wanted to be a famous stage actress, a hairdresser, a drama teacher and a zoologist. Oh, I also wanted to be a spy.

A: The Magic Wishing Chair by Enid Blyton. Five Run Away Together by Enid Blyton. My Side of the Mountain by Jean Craighead George. Matilda by Roald Dahl.
