'Now We Are Six' is a classic book of children's verses, including some about A.A. Milne's best-loved characters Christopher Robin and Winnie-the-Pooh and others in a more general nonsense vein. The title comes from the final poem of the book, but the author wanted us to know that "...the name of the book doesn't mean that this is us being six all the time, but that it is about as far as we've got at present, and we half think of stopping there...". As with the other Winnie-the-Pooh stories, themes of friendship and happiness are abundant, facilitating thoughtful discussion between parents and children. Many printed editions of this book are illustrated with Ernest H. Shepard's familiar artwork, including a few drawings into which Winnie-the-Pooh has wandered 'by accident'.

More than eighty years ago, a young boy named Christopher Robin took his teddy-bear friend Winnie-the-Pooh by one chubby paw and introduced him to the first generation of readers who would come to fall in love with this delightful character. Pooh has endured, slightly rotund, a 'Bear of Very Little Brain', but generous of heart: the immortal creation of A. A. Milne, who wrote these poems and stories for his only son, Christopher Robin, and Ernest H. Shepard, who lovingly gave Pooh and his companions shape.
The adventures of Pooh, Piglet, Owl, Tigger, and the ever doleful Eeyore, are timeless treasures of childhood. These tales still speak to all of us with the vividness which distinguishes true storytelling...
