Maggie Malone and the Mostly Magical Boots

Maggie Malone just got the worst news of her life: Her dad has lost his job and she has to leave her beloved private school and switch to the huge public Pinkerton Middle School—the one everyone calls Stinkerton for obvious reasons. On top of it all, Maggie is about to turn twelve and she just knows it’s going to be a big bust.

When her crazy Aunt Fiona sends her a pair of dirty old cowboy boots for her birthday, Maggie’s fears are confirmed. At least, until she puts on the boots and Frank the Genie shows up. It turns out the boots aren’t any old boots—they’re Mostly Magical Boots. The “Mostly” part means the boots come with a catch: Maggie can’t cast spells (No turning her brother Mickey into a hamster? Rats!) or magically make her curly hair straight. Instead, when Maggie slips into the MMBs, she gets the chance to be somebody else for a whole day. Anybody she wants! And who wouldn’t want to be megafamous teen rock sensation Becca Starr?
