Colleen Hoover lives in rural Texas with her husband and three young boys. Before the success of her first novel, Slammed, she worked 11-hour days as a social worker. Colleen enjoyed writing from a young age, however, it wasn't until she was in her early 30s and listening to her favourite band, the Avett Brothers, that she was truly inspired by the words in one of their songs: '...decide what to be and go be it."

Collen decided to write, committing pen to paper and finishing her first book in the space of just a few months. She initially self-published in e-book format on Amazon, and has since been published in hardcopy and become a New York Times bestselling author.

She loves music, her new career in writing, and her family - although not in that order!

Author's Comment: Q. Did you ever try to get published by a New York “real” [as opposed to e-book] publisher. What came of it?

I just wrote these books less than a year ago, so I never tried to get them traditionally published.  In all honesty, I wrote them for fun and never thought of myself as an author.  I uploaded them to Amazon so friends and family could read them, which is why I made them free the first week.  I never in my wildest dreams thought they would become bestsellers. If I had this goal while writing them, I probably would have freaked out and not finished them. It’s honestly insane how this has all sort of snowballed. It’s been amazing, to say the least.
